User experience designers who know what your users want

Get inside your users’ heads with our user experience design agency

Why user experience?

User experience is all about making your customers happier; and with happier customers, you can expect a healthier business! But how do we know what your users need? It’s simple - we find out. Our user experience designers combine a number of research techniques to get to know your users. From there, we observe how they interact with your product, and listen to their thoughts and suggestions. By putting the user in the driving seat, we make sure your product is headed in the right direction.

How can we help?

The secret to a great user experience is making your user’s life easier. While this might sound like a piece of cake, it takes a lot of UX know-how to get right! This is where our UX designers earn their stripes. We offer four main UX services: expert reviews, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. Depending on where you’re at, we’ll suggest the best route to fit your business needs.

Benefits of great user experience

Expert review

There’s a reason we call it an “expert” review - when it comes to UX, our user experience designers really know their stuff! To kick off your project, we get started with an in-depth review of your current website or app. We evaluate how user-friendly your product is, and dig into how well it complies with fundamental usability principles. During the review, we’re on the lookout for any potential weaknesses, strengths, and opportunities to improve the usability of your product. Once we’ve gone through everything with a fine-toothed comb, we put together a comprehensive document that illuminates our findings, and gives you suggestions on how to improve your product.

Wireframes

A wireframe is certainly no work of art! It is usually made up of simple grey blocks, lines, and text. Although it may not be beautiful, it is an effective way to outline the navigation, functionality, and user experience of your website or app. In fact, think of wireframes like blueprints. They map out each and every page, as well as every interaction point of your product, to ensure a seamless experience from day one. Because it’s much easier to make changes at this stage than later on, a thorough wireframing phase can prevent unnecessary development costs down the line. We love wireframes for many reasons, but one of their main draw cards is that they give everyone a clear picture of the product from early on.

Usability testing

There’s no better way to find bugs or UX blind spots than usability testing. As the adage goes, to find ideas, find problems; to find problems, talk to users. By selecting test users that match your target personas, we can actually get inside your users’ heads! This allows us to get the right feedback to make your product the best it can be. Our user experience design agency offers one-on-one user interviews, and remote usability tests to determine whether your website or app meets user expectations. After usability testing is done and dusted, we’ll send you a detailed report describing what the test users thought of your product, and how we recommend the user experience be improved.

Prototypes

A prototype is a mock-up of your site or app, that looks and feels like the real deal, but isn’t. Prototypes can be anything from hand-drawn sketches, to interactive, digital simulations of your product. At Fixate, we love high-fidelity prototypes. These interactive prototypes look almost identical to what the final product will be, but include little to no code. They help us conduct usability testing early on, meaning we can pinpoint any UX issues and make improvements before development begins. Prototypes are also a cost-effective way to show stakeholders how the final product will look and function. Having a clearer picture of what the product will be, makes it easier for everyone involved to “buy-in” to the idea.

Ask our user experience designers

  • Nothing. Simple as that. “UX” is just a term we use when we want to sound fancy.

  • Usability testing is an effective way to find out what your users want before you invest time and money building something they don’t. It helps our user experience designers to identify your users’ frustrations and pain points, and pinpoint the areas of your website or app that need improvement. If you give your users what they want, they’re more likely to become loyal customers, and there’s nothing better for business than a happy, loyal customer. For more about usability testing check out our post The foundations of UX usability testing.

  • Yes! We can create a set of user personas based on your ideal customer. Personas are important if you want to create relevant experiences to which your users can relate. The first step to creating a powerful user experience is understanding who your users are, and personas help us to do just that.

  • Of course! We create intuitive user-flows that allow your customers to navigate effortlessly through your website or app. Just like the game of snakes and ladders, a well-constructed user-flow can help your visitors to climb the ladders, avoid the snakes, and get to the finish line quickly! This helps to increase your conversion rate, and leaves you with happy customers.

  • The main goal of a remote usability test is to get feedback from your users about the user experience of your product. We recruit about 5 test users (these can be existing customers, or users that match your user personas), and ask them to record themselves and their screen while they interact with your website or app. We give the participants a number of tasks to complete, and ask them to speak their thoughts out loud as they do so. Once the usability tests are ready, our user experience designers evaluate the videos and give you feedback on the key points. They also make suggestions for the next steps of the project.

  • This depends on a number of factors; the stage of your business, what you’re hoping to achieve, your budget, how much you already know about your users, etc. When it comes to user experience, it’s not always necessary to get the whole shebang. What’s more, certain services can be implemented at various stages of your product’s lifecycle, so you don’t have to get everything all at once. Once we know more about your project, our user experience design agency can advise you on which services will make the biggest impact for your business.
